Beechworth is one of Victoria's best preserved gold towns, with a wealth of historic buildings and attractions to explore, including the Historic & Cultural Precinct, hailed as Australia's finest heritage attraction.
Following the discovery of gold in 1852, Beechworth flourished and soon became a major regional centre.
Bushranger Ned Kelly was tried in the courthouse, now part of the Historic & Cultural Precinct. This collection of 19th century provincial government buildings provides a wonderful glimpse into life on the early goldfields.
