The workers

At home

Dick and our grandson working in the horse yards doing some repairs. There is a feed bin
sitting in the foreground, for what reason I have no idea. Photo taken a few days ago before
the extreme heat arrived.

We have survived and a delightful cool change came through and the temperature dropped
by 20 degrees if you can imagine that! The fires are still going in many areas in our
state but the cooler weather will be a huge help. Unfortunately our hot weather has
moved over into New South Wales where there have been horrific fires, loss of homes, stock, wild-life and loss of human life.
According to Walter some fireys from
California have headed over this way to help, we are so thankful! Those fireys must
be exhausted by now!

The landscape sure did change to very brown fast. Glad to hear that the extreme heat has moved away from you. But sad to hear that now NSW is now being effected. The sky looks clear in your photo; so the fires must not be super close at this time. Thank goodness!!!

Our firefighters are exhausted and yes Canada, America and New Zealand have all sent crews. It's great how we work with reciprocal teams. With so many fires we can't send so many of our guys to other states as we are on on extreme and catastrophic alerts...I see NSW now reaching into the Blue Mountains region, I'm sure only massive amounts of rain will stop it and that's not likely to happen looking at the forecast. I'm pleased you had some heat relief yesterday. Our son in-law has just been to repair a fence after a 100 ft length of bark from an old gum that was struck by lightning a few years ago. It fell last week right over the fence...naturally. :(
Lovely to have willing helpers isn't it. We will feed them by way of thanks next week, eh ? :))

Those fires are so horrific - our hearts go out to all those affected. It was on our news that Canada had sent some fire fighters too. So good to see Grandpa and grandson working together on your lovely property.
