Hot-hot-hot

At home

Fire colours to illustrate the heat we have happening here in Oz. Two roses featured
are Fragrant Cloud and Shady Lady, then there are two pictures of canna leaves a fuchsia and Dietes.

Some parts of our state has reached 50 degrees Celsius, there are 2 fires at the moment
out of control north of us, with a northerly wind behind it.. we are staying indoors
because Adelaide has a forecast of 46 degrees Celsius, and we are a couple of degrees
cooler than downtown Adelaide. Its not a nice day here, only dropped to 35 over night.
A cool change is supposed to arrive late this afternoon bringing with it some dry lightning strikes that could start new fires.

N.S.W. is much worse than we are, with 800 houses lost, fire people killed and injured
and no respite ahead. The whole of the east coast has 100's of fires burning. What a start to summer!

Beautiful array of colors.
Take care in the heat and I hope you will not be affected by the fires.
I know that there are California Firefighters helping out. Hope they send a lot more.

Not liking the heat myself, I am thinking of you and hope that you will get some relief very soon. Please stay safe. Your flowers are so beautiful though.

If I remember correctly, Tracey had several Shady Lady growing back in our R in O days :)
Those volunteer firefighters were young dad's so sad for the effect this has on everyone. I believe there was a sudden drop in temps when the change swept in, but nothing to stop the fires....I see Vic has joined us with fires as well and this is their first week of heat. We remain blanketed in smoke that has travelled 300km north from NSW coast.

We have been thinking of you all as our news reports are grim. I hope you're putting our Canadians to work - they have a lot of experience !! It is such a good idea to switch help as our seasons alternate. Stay safe !!

50 Degrees Celsius with a low of only 35 is unreal!!! Do you have high humidity, too? How are your plants fairing in such extreme heat? Because I'll be in Sydney in February, I've been carefully watching the fire and smoke reports for NSW. Things continue to get worse; not better.

I'll be saying a little prayer that you, your family, and your homestead stay safe from the horrible bushfires all over Australia. Besides the sheer misery of the extreme head, the bushfire threat must be extremely unsettling.
