Timing device

Adelaide Hills, South Australia

We sat in a lecture about how sundials are made, and this was one of the
devices on display... can anyone put a name to it?

Very nice shot. I like the decorated brass and stand. "V"
This is an armillary sphere. The rings represent the various circles in space in relation to the earth. The photos stuck in it would need to be removed to use it. Also a bit small side.

That there would be a form of armillary sphere. I know this because I encountered a bunch of them in the Museo Galileo in Firenze (Florence) a couple of years back. One of these years I may even have the time to post my photos of them!
