Town housing

City of Adelaide, South Australia

A "drive-by" shot taken after visiting a cousin in hospital.
These belong to people who have moved back to the inner city
to live after possibly spending most of their life in the
outer suburbs. It has become trendy amid some to do this,
especially if this sort of life appeals to them.

Interesting that people are moving into this kind of housing. One does get to a point when one can no longer handle the upkeep of a more rural type life style.

I love that these buildings are being preserved and will live on another century...the winds of change is happening everywhere. A beautiful drive by, Von...and I hope your cousin is well soon. V

Nice, clear imagery; the leaves forming a frame over the top hark back to the buildings' colonial heritage. A similar thing is happening in the area where I work. Pyrmont was once a rough, working class neighbourhood full of sugar refineries, building material manufacturers and so on. These days it's gentrified with buildings of a similar vintage to the ones shown above (once workers' cottages, though the one on the right seems a touch grander than that) selling for prices that would cause the workers who eked out a meagre existence in them in the 1800s and early 1900s to have heart failure.
I can appreciate the appeal of inner city living but I prefer to have a bit of space now; more than a terrace can give. Except when it comes time to mow the lawn in summer, of course.
