Sunburnt country

At home

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!
[Dorothea MacKellar]

A photo taken from the horseyard fence on a day where the temperature reached 39dC
our summer colours of brown hills and olive green trees with in this case, a cloudy
windy sky. Please see IN ORIGINAL FORMAT

Here's a photo of a tiny new addition to my fuchsia collection.

Beautifully composed and framed landscape. The eye is pulled by the leading line of the tree tops into the frame to the rolling hills and beyond. Lovely photo. Vote.

It has rained on and off for the past two weeks...grass is green after a year of brown....but at least your not fire burnt like so many poor devils down your way. Kept thinking of Black Saturday and of course Ash Wednesday all those years ago...nothing changes here, we have feast or famine year after year.
Happy Anniversary to you both...was ours on Jan 1 too :)

It looks very dry indeed, and hot. 39c is waaay too hot. I surely hope this and your property, remain unscathed by any of the fires. V

I was thinking about you when I was looking at the ABC news feed, talking about the Adelaide Hills fires. I hope they keep their distance from you.
It's been hot and uncomfortably humid over here for the last few days (though we've got rains / thunderstorms overhead as I type this which are cooling things down a little) but that's not much to complain about compared to your area or western Vic.
That would be a very pretty scene in cooler, less dangerous weather.

Such lovely summer country. A typical scene and too lovely to be threatened by fire, as so many places in Australia are at this time of year. 39 deg is too hot. May it remain unscathed, Yvonne.
