Splash of gold

At home

Self-sown acacia in full bloom against the wintery sky
When we first moved here back in the late 70's we planted a row of 22 acacia
as a wind-break, while young they bend easily in the wind. The black cockatoos
soon realized which time of year the acacia set seed, and arrived in flocks
to clean up the tasty treat... each year they arrived regularly while
the trees survived. Unfortunately acacia are short lived and now we
only have a few of this particular variety, all self-sown.

There are hayfever sufferers who loathe them but thankfully I am not afflicted!
They do look lovely

A very apt title: a splash of gold indeed! You have captured this acacia tree so nicely! It's interesting to hear from your bird friends, too! V

I bet their scent is beautiful. I love always seeing them with the yellow blossoms, called here Mimosa and planted more in Spain and Portugal. V.
