We always prefer to drive home this way to avoid the suburban sprawl and all the
traffic lights. This particular road takes us past an agricultural area with many apple orchards
and vineyards. There are also market gardens growing strawberries, cabbages, rhubarb and lettuce.
The area was originally conceived as a retreat from the hot temperatures of summer months, hence
the name of the area being "Summertown". We can depend on being at least 3dC cooler than
the plains.
This particular road featured is one of the only straight stretches, and it dips sharply
like a seesaw or slippery dip, you can just see the back of a truck that was ahead of us
as it disappears down the slope.
