The Wellington Dam

Near Collie, Western Australia view map

Built in 1933, the weir wall is curved like a boomerang holding up to 8800 million gallons of water. This dam is overflowing for the first
time since 2009, only the 3rd time in the most recent decade. The dam is mainly used for irrigation.

The viewing platform where I stood gives everyone great views.

I remember when our dams overflowed for the first time in over a decade then the following year people lost their lives when flood waters were released...flood or famine this land is !!
