The Buckland Valley

Buckland Valley - Victoria - Australia view map

The Buckland Valley was one of the most eventful mountain goldfields in Australia.
Within a few short years it witnessed a rush of over 6,000 diggers,
a high death toll with the outbreak of typhoid, and the infamous
anti-Chinese race riots of 1857.

The day we called in we thought we were the only ones there, but we weren't.

Nice light and it looks like a peaceful spot. Can't imagine the turmoil of 6000 gold diggers. Well done.

It looks the ideal place to "lose yourself" - a quiet haven. Lovely colours.
