The Kiosk at night
We decided to join in the fun of watching the full moon rising over the sea
from this little kiosk which is a few kilometres north of Cairns. Here
you see the early stages of the moon rising.. a couple more images to follow
in the next few days.

The new swimming pool
Last year the pool was closed when we visited, but this year it is
open and in action. The beach here in Cairns is mud-flats, so the pool
is a necessity, and has life savers stationed here and there.

Colourful tree
A feature of this beach is a line of these trees, the red leaves making
a real eye catcher amid the palms. I believe the tree is called
Terminalia catappa, or Beach Almond, correct me if I'm wrong please.

Swimmers
Trinity Beach, one of the more popular Marlin Coast beaches, is 17 km north-west of central Cairns.
Trinity Bay, on which Cairns is situated, was named by Lieutenant James Cook on or near Trinity Sunday, 10 June, 1770.
A fully developed residential suburb by the 1990s, Trinity Beach was a day-long excursion
from Cairns before World War II and a place for weekenders in the early postwar years.
Its growth spurt came in the 1980s when the population increased fivefold to over 4000 people.
Subdivision and development began in the previous decade, when a primary school (1979) was opened.
The beachfront boulevard is Vasey Parade, named after Major General George Vasey, a hero of the New Guinea campaigns
who was killed when the plane he was being carried in crashed into the waters off Trinity Beach in 1948. In 2004 a Vasey Parade
house sold for over $4 million.
Trinity Beach had the first stinger net swimming enclosure..

A nearby beach
Every day we visited nearby beaches, golf clubs, resorts, and this photo was taken
at Trinity Beach, two beaches south of where we were staying. The sports club served
fabulous meals the carnivores in our group absolutely loved!

The fallen log
Each year when we spend time at this beach, the log always fascinates me
and it did that again this time too. I assume it fell during a summer
cyclone years ago.

Walkers on the beach
A wonderful day at the beach during our recent holiday in the tropics
we arrived back home to 7 degrees celsius, brrr! It is still winter down south!

Balmy afternoon at the beach
Photo taken from the sands on Clifton Beach after a pleasant walk on the
pathway that links the northern beaches to Cairns (that is 33 ks long). Popular
with people walking their dogs, strolling, jogging and riding their bikes.
Always busy and everyone is friendly. One can just sit on the many seats available
to enjoy the calmness of the tide rolling in or out. There is no winter in
this climate!
