The rain came again this morning, with highs expected to be in the 50's. In between showers, this little downy woodpecker made a visit. It was unusual for him to light in the branches, but it gave me a good angle to shoot.
A couple of years ago, my house was newly insulated with blown insulation, they used 3" wooden plugs to plug the holes in the siding afterwards. A little "Downey" decided that was a good camoflage, so it decided to drill its own little hole in my siding. I kept trying to chase it away, but while visiting the Walnut Festival, it had time enough to finish the chore while I was away. Didn't see much of it until the first cold snap, then he took up residence in his fluffy new home for the Winter. It did return a second Winter, but then was run out by a Starling. It was kind of neat to wake in the morning to his faint little noises in the wall just above my bed.
