Pittsburgh

I hope this illustrates that even the most common birds have their own appeal. While the Peregrine Falcon is not what I would consider a "common bird", it was photographed during the same time period as were the smaller birds. Peregrine Falcons were introduced into cities some years ago in an attempt to control pigeon populations. The tall buildings provide nesting sites and launching points for these fastest of fliers. We were told by the folks at Wild Birds Unlimited that some Peregrine Falcons have been seen moving into the suburbs surrounding Pittsburgh. The remainder of the images of "more common birds" were taken in my sister's back yard. I quickly observed that when the Peregrine Falcon was around........the other birds disappeared!!!
