Butterflies at Bald Knob NWR

These are some random butterfly shots taken at Bald Knob NWR in September 2003. The Red Admiral on my finger was a unique accident. I was trying to move the butterfly from my truck, so I could get a shot on some natural vegitation. I nudged it a bit with my index finger expecting it to fly to a more visually appealing spot but instead it climbed upon my finger. I had to change lenses (to my Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro) to get the shot. Also, during shooting I filled my CF card which required me to move the butterfly to my right hand, retrieve a blank CF card from my left pant pocket, transfer the butterfly back to my left had, replace the CF card in the camera and resume shooting. It was certainly worth all the trouble. This butterfly liked me (or my salt) so much it did not want to leave.
