It was very cold and still dark when I arrived on my count area last Sunday morning. I got out of the car to walk along Pue road just as the sun was coming over the horizon. Black-Throated Sparrows are a bird of desert scrub, not easy to find in Bexar county, so I was happy just to see one, getting a picture in the dawn light was icing on the cake. I'm fortunate it came out as well as it did, I was sure I was shivering to hard to hold the camera still, and my fingers were too numb to shoot.
