The Bosporus is a small strait that separates Europe from Asia. It is a strange, but wonderful feeling to be sitting in Europe, sipping good Turkish coffee, looking across the water at Asia. Because of it location, Istanbul is the only city to span two continents. The bridge in this picture in the distance allows one to cross the Bosporus. Walking over, one can stand with on foot in Europe and the other in Asia. (I didn't do this; maybe I will have another opportunity someday.)
