As the quilting bug grabbed hold of my thoughts and time, we signed up for a course in a "quilt as you go" table runner. Rather than piecing the top together, combining the top with the backing and batting and quilting, this runner has the backing and batting acting as a stitching base for the top. The top is formed by stitching the rows of blocks together and to the batting and backing all at the same time. The pattern makes a particularly striking runner (although this picture is a bit dark).
