Northern Shoveler Drake knew something was up as I was hiding in the brush and taking pictures of him and his 2 hens. He would switch back and forth from giving me a look at his left side to a look at his right side. Within about 15 seconds of doing this, the feathers on his head and neck started standing up, which I guess was sign to the girls with him to get out of the area - which they then immediately flew away.
