21 days

Discovery of a late batch of M Plovers. The usual, 2 eggs, non descrip sand mound, by the road side, 2 lurking parents. For 21 days the parents stay near their eggs, that was a tell tale sign for continous occurances. Both parents set up a series of observation posts and escape routes when ever they are threatened. The adults will keep their suspected threats within their vision and try all means to distract. Only when they feel safe, they will stand on top of a few observation posts before moving to the nest and inspecting the eggs. At any sign of danger, they normally wait till the predator's eyes are not watching, they promptly leave the nest. Needing to warm to chicks, even in the face of threats, the female actually will run back to the nest mound to inspect the chicks. She will display some feriocity by opening and shutting her beak deliberately. She may even position herself with the buff facing danger by always keeping a look out.
