For a long time, I had this plan of upgrading the birdbath in the garden, to accommodate the growing number of both resident and visiting birds at home. But designing the details to make it work perfectly in providing the respective needs and preferences of every species was all loose ends.
When my mother passed away in July 2021, the confined thoughts condensed and flowed freely from my wearied mind. I felt I had buoyed up inspiration from the drowning waves of anguish and despair.
So I broke ground, nowhere but near my mother’s favorite flower - the “Rosal”. It is where I can picture the beautiful memories of her - harvesting flowers and placing them on the altar where she regularly prayed. With the help of supportive people around me, we finished the project on the 40th day of my mother’s passing.
Just a few weeks after completion, birds started to check on the water. To date, I have observed several species in countless amazing moments. I lost a caring and loving mother, but, on this well, I experienced more of life, the power of love, and the inexhaustible mercy from God.
This project is in memory of my mother and dedicated to my wonderful nephews and nieces. In this life we have to give the best we possibly could in everything good that we do, no matter how simple a thing is, and even in times of our distress.
