This pimped BMW Isetta started its career as a handy project to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the volunteer brigade in Hamburg-Schnelsen,aptly named for the German verb löschen, i.e. to extinguish. Today it is an official service vehicle in the city's fire service, a mascot for PR- events. In 1989 it was part of New York's Steuben Parade where it was known as " Fire Baby". Legend has it that it was praised for its suitability in fighting high-rise fires - ride it into any elevator and then proceed to the floor the fire is on to go in head first.
