Mölders was built by Bath Iron Works in Maine as a modified Charles F. Adams-class guided missile destroyer by order of the Federal Government of Germany and was commissioned in 1969.At 134 meters, it had a complement of 334, it displaced 4,800 tonnes and was capable of 33 knots.
