After a one week hiatus, my PAD's are back, and this time with a message.
I just recently attended The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Scientific Assembly in Washington D.C. and we held a rally on the lawn of the nation’s capitol to hopefully call attention to the plight of healthcare in this country. Over the last year the AAFP has been a leading voice in Washington calling for change in the health care system in this country. We are for health care coverage and a Family Practice home for all Americans. Most policy makers and experts feel Family Practice will be at the heart of changing health care in this country. But we need your help. Many things must happen. We need more reimbursement from insurance to keep our doors open and we need your employers help to join with us and move away from a multipayer, managed care driven, acute care system. In the coming weeks I will be posting potential fixes to the system and hope it will stimulate your thoughts, suggestions and action in the coming November elections this year and in 2008. If any of you have any thoughts or suggestions please post them as comments and I will respond. Thanks!
