After a weekend workshop with Mary Ellen Mark at the Center of Photography at Woodstock, NY in early August 2008, I spent two days in New York City. To save $$ I stayed at a Days Inn motel in Ridgefield, New Jersey. The first day I took the ferry to and from the city, and the second I took the NJ Transit Bus. While in the city I got together with photographers whom I'd met here on PBase. com and on David Alan Harvey's blog, "Road Trips." In every case I found that so-called "virtual friends" are very real indeed. My thanks to Spencer Lloyd, Keith Goldstein and his wife Nicole, and Erica McDonald for showing me the warmth and love that this city hides within its urban anonymity.
