Message from Barry Langdon-Lassagne
Many of my hobbies involve optics in some way. I've been doing amateur astronomy since the 1970s, birding since the 1980s and microscopy since the 1990s, but only got into digital SLR bird photography in 2005. My goal here is to improve my abilities as a photographer and to share the bird pictures I am able to capture.
I believe in a non-intrusive study of nature: "take only pictures, leave only footprints", and follow the ABA Code of Birding Ethics when I commune with nature.
Camera: Canon EOS 20D 30D 40D 7D 5D Mark iii, with a 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 IS lens R5 mirrorless with a 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens. No flash. Gitzo G1227 tripod (mmmmm....carbon fiber....) with Acratech ball mount - although I usually use the camera handheld or maybe set on the ground or a picnic table. Post-processing: I organize my photos with Photo Mechanic and process them with Adobe PhotoShop Lightroom and sometimes with Adobe Photoshop on a MacBook Pro.
