My Best Kodachrome

On August 3, 2010 there was an article in my local newspaper about Steve McCurry shooting the very last roll of Kodachrome. That prompted me to post some of my Kodachrome images as my homage to that infuriatingly slow and contrasty, but wonderfully sharp and saturated film. The slides were scanned on an Epson v500 scanner and minor adjustments were made using Lightroom. Update Dec. 30, 2010 - there was an article in today's paper about the closing of the last remaining lab that processed Kodachrome.

Excellent selection of images, really shows off a much loved film. I am currently experimenting with fujifilm's digital simulation of kodachrome, with mixed results - thanks for posting these - all the best.

The best of the films ever made. Should Kodak have continued to perfect this film, it would be classed as a art form in the hands of a photographer. I should say PHOTOGRAPHER :) The depth and true nature of these colours is palpable. Maybe it's just me, but the texture and clarity of these frames is so inviting. I cannot say that about digital where the sharpness and punch from it seems to slap the eyes with the projection.

a great collection... and true, the ratio of keepers on slides/roll film was indeed much higher that these days on SanDisk cards... on the other hand, thinking about the learning opportunities and experimentation with instant feedback possible today, I like digital better... just my two pennies.. :)

Very nice!! v. All my older images are Kodachrome scanned using a Nikon Coolscan 9000 ED. I suffered withdrawals after I used my last roll of Kodachrome but they didn't last too long.

A wonderful tribute to the slide film we all gew up on. Anyone who ever used it will miss this wonderful film. I must confess though that I used lots of Fujichrome as well. At a picture cost of about a dollar or more a shot, we also thought more about the image before we pressed the shutter than we do today with digital.
