These two exhibits, on different floors of the same building, illustrate the charmingly eclectic nature of Shelburne Museum. This gallery shows some of the museum's collections: https://pbase.com/willinvt/shelburne_museum The parents of the museum's founder were among the earliest admirers and collectors of impressionist art. It probably helped that Mary Cassat was a friend of the family. The impressionist paintings are, with one exception, all from the museum's collection. The quilts were collected by the founder's grandson, a former curator of the Smithsonian. The quilts are from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
