Mike, I'm sorry to report we have another name to add to the "fallen" WGRFers list.
Paul Meyer of Kankakee, IL has passed away at age 77 on Nov 18 2011. Paul was stricken with polio at an early age, but did not let his disability
hinder his love and passion for railroads and photography thereof. In the 1960's, Paul was semi-mobile with metal leg-brace canes,
and was able to handle his stick shift VW Bug. He started photography
in his area when the NYC was still running hudsons on the James Whitcomb Riley, and of course IC steam
also proliferated locally. Trips abroad later enabled shooting steam in Germany and other European nations.
Paul was a teacher in the Kankakee school district and had been retired about 10 years. The polio came back in the 1980's, relegating him to a wheelchair in his final years.
A kind and gentle soul who gratefully shared his knowledge and photos with all, he will be greatly missed.
RIP my friend.
