Cubbon Park & Vidhana Soudha Bangalore

Designed and laid out in British times, this park in the heart of Bangalore is magnificant. It also contains the official buildings for the state of Karnataka- the Vidhana Soudha(Parliament), the law courts and official library.

VIDHANA SOUDHA built by the first Chief Minister of KARNATAKA..KENGAL HANUMANTHAYYA... this is the most beautiful Architecture n construction in INDIA

While I must admit I dont know who the designer is, Lutyens who designed the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi (The Official Residence of the President of India) is unlikely to have designed the Vidhana Soudha. I say that because, Vidhana Soudha has neo dravidian style (temple style) of architecture and also because Lutyens passed away in 1.1.1944.

Thanks for your comments Ramamohan. I bow to your superior knowledge on the subject. An I right in understanding that Lutchyns the architect designed the building- he of New Delhi fame?

Nice of you to have shared these pictures. Vidhana Soudha houses the States Legislative Assembly. This building was not built by the British. It was built by Karnataka's own Kengal Hanumanthaiah. Construction started in 1951 and was completed in 1956.

The present generation would not know who or what Cubbon was, though the name for the park still stands.
