Henry Gruene, born in 1850 to German immigrants, built this Victorian mansion in 1872 in what was then the town of Goodwin. It is described as Victorian Style with Eastlake detailing. Mr. Gruene was instrumental in developing the town which was subsequently named after him. The town of Gruene (pronounced "Green") is now part of the city of New Braunfels TX.The mansion is now in use as a bed and breakfast.
