The Great Blue Herron (Ardea herodias) does have a white phase which is
found in salt water area in Southern Florida. The White Egret or Great
Egret (Casmerodius albus) is the bird in this picture. The distinction
between them is the crest. A Great Blue Herron (In white or blue colors)
has a crest.
