My original plan for the morning was to hike the Ivestor Gap Trail to the gap, then take the Art Loeb Trail back over Tennent Mountain and Black Balsam Knob. Since I was getting a much later start, I decided to just stop at the Art Loeb Trail off of Black Balsam Rd and hike up it. If you've been here, you'll recognize that tree because it has a huge branch near the ground that people sit on for pictures. Bad news - the branch has broken. It looks like the heavy snow and ice took it's toll.
