Malam Jabba is home to the most popular ski resort of Pakistan. Located located nearly 40km from Saidu Sharif in Swat Valley, NWFP, Malam Jabba is a popular destination for tourists in winter as well as in summer. The distance from Islamabad by road is 314 Kilometers and 51 Kilometers from Saidu Sharif Airport. The PTDC resort at Malam Jabba has a ski slope of about 800m which is facilitated with a chairlift. The highest point of the slope is 2,804 m (9,200 feet) above sea level. There is a smaller slope with ski-lift for amateur skiers as well. The resort is equipped with snow clearing equipment and roller/ice skating rinks. The motel at the resort has elegantly furnished rooms and the restaurant offers both local and international cuisine. These photos are from my ski trip to Malam Jabba in 2005.

I strongly doubt it will be possible to visit the resort in the near future. As far as I understand, the resort was (partially at least) burnt down in 2008. Glad I visited it a few years earlier.

Hey, I have never been to anything like this in my life, but inshallah one day will make it there. About 15 years back when I was studying in Pakistan, I often read in social studies book that Pakistan is one of the countries blessed with the natural resources and beauty, ofcourse living in Lahore I could never understand that. But today when I do, the political situation in Pakistan sends a cold shiver through my spine and makes me wonder is Pakistan going to be next Afghanistan or Iraq? Anyways I dont want to steer this comment in political directions. I am actually trying to gather some information about Malam Jabba and was wondering if anybody could help me out here. I am not looking for any directions however just a few socio-cultural questions, so if anybody still remembers anything please send me msg @ mubeen_86@sympatico.ca. I will be looking forward to any help possible.. Thanks in advance.

Waqas, I highly recommend you visit places like Madian, Bahrein, Kalaam in Swat Valley... Extremely breath-taking sceneries... once in Kalaam you can visit the surrouding lakes and drive into the Usha and Utror Valleys where the Usha and Utror rivers are teaming with trout... Its an area worth visiting.. when are you visiting Pakistan again??? I just returned from my trip in October... As usual it was "Heaven of Earth" again... My next trip to Pakistan is in June 2008 and my destination is Chitral and its surroundings...

This was my only trip to any place in Swat Valley, I've been to many parts in Northern Areas that are difficult to reach and are not well-known among Pakistanis, but I haven't been to Kalaam etc which are easily accessible and even families visit these places, but it's on my "To Do" list :)

Hi! Me and my family went there in the summer and we only got back from Swat a week ago. We went to Malam Jabba on our last Sunday with my parents, brothers and cousins and climbed some part of the slope. It was amazing!!!! The view from the Frontier - Tower Hotel also, was breath - taking!!! The summer really brings out its beauty. On our holiday we went there at least 3 or 4 times, thats how good it is! It is was also close to where we resided during our 2 month stay in Swat. So it was easy for us to get there.

Malam jabba is such a beautiful place which is just like heaven! its a place which people who have seen will never forget and those who haven't seen want to see and remember it forever. i think this the beauty of N.W.F.P.
