North Korea

In June of 2002 the DPRK granted visas to US citizens for the first time since 1995. I was among a group of 7 US citizens to visit - The Pyongyang Seven. I've divided the photos into 3 sets - Pyongyang, The Demilitarized Zone, and the 100k person Mass Games. It is an amazing place....

Tom, do you also find inspiring the million or so that have been starved to death by the DPRK regime? (Do not try to claim that THAT is because of U.S. imperialism.)

Tom - you are out of your tree. I have been to a number of countries where I don't particularly like the methods of government, but I can honestly say the DPRK is an extremely dangerous regime. I had a general tell us w/ a straight face that nuclear war was a viable option with the US and Japan. They are extremely unpredictable and not practicing real politique as Libya is now for example. They have nothing to lose, and this makes the DPRK a large threat to global stability.

While some may say the DPRK is bizarre, I think it is inspiring to see a country that is fiercely maintaining its independence in the face of US imperialism, surrounded as it is by nuclear powers Russia, China, South Korea and Japan.Long live the DPRK

Wow. That looks a lot like mainland China except for the paucity of people and what looked like cleaner streets. I echo others' sentiments on how eerie the place looks.

The thing that comes to mind is either "Star-trek ", or " The twilight Zone" . What an erie place- overwhelminly creepy. The only way to deal with such madness is by deterance , nuclear that is. What madness! Surely that wack-o polyanggang or whatever his name is, is crazy enouph to light the firecracker!

some of them are b&w because I shot them w/ b&w film. Ilford 125 specifically.
