　開心果和地氈一直是伊朗賺取外匯收入的主要出口，但歐盟曾於1997年以伊朗開心果含有致癌物質而禁止輸入，對伊朗出口構成重大打擊。事隔接近10年，歐盟仍經常退回伊朗開心果。

　儘管如此，伊朗今年開心果還是大豐收，有助鞏固其世界最大開心果出口國的地位。

　中國更是伊朗開心果的最大進口國，每年輸入多達4萬公噸。

　伊朗的天氣非常適合種植開心果，根據農業部的估計，至明年3月底止的一個年度，伊朗全國開心果的生產總量將會增至25萬公噸，較上一個年度23萬公噸超出2萬公噸。為了增強買家的信心，伊朗保證已經採取嚴厲措施，防止開心果被污染。

　此外，伊朗在輸出開心果時已特別增多額外檢查步驟；伊朗曾試過在3個月期間，檢定超過10%的開心果不符合出口標準。

　一直以來，伊朗是全球最大開心果出口國，其次是美國、土耳其和敘利亞。現在，全球餐廳和咖啡室有超過三分之一的開心果是來自伊朗。

　今年首7個月，伊朗輸出總值4.55億美元（約35.5億港元）開心果，約佔全國農產品出口的一半。

　換言之，開心果成為伊朗的最重要非石油出口產品。
