Originally constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries, with primary building phases organized around 1475–1476, the Monastery of the Holy Trinity was historically accessible only via rope baskets, windlasses, and rope ladders before stone steps were carved into the cliff face in 1925. Recognized as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the remote sanctuary also gained international pop-culture fame as a cliff-top hideout in the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.
