Monastery of the Great Meteoron in Meteora is the largest and oldest of the sacred monasteries in Meteora, Greece. Founded in the 14th century by Saint Athanasios the Meteorite, this stone complex sits atop a massive rock formation, accessible via a winding stone staircase carved directly into the cliffside.
