Built in the 18th century for Elector and Archbishop Clemens August of Bavaria, the Schloss Augustusburg in Bruhl is a masterpieces of Rococo architecture, celebrated for their lavish interiors, formal French gardens, and exquisite decorative details. Schloss Augustusburg served as the official state guesthouse for the German Federal President and government from 1949 until 1996.
