At Handschoenmarkt in front of the Cathedral of Our Lady, this touching sculpture by Batist Vermeulen (2016) shows the boy Nello and his dog Patrasche sleeping beneath a blanket-like form made from cobblestones. It commemorates the 1872 novel A Dog of Flanders by Quida, whose emotional ending takes place at the cathedral.
