Pieter Appelmans monument was created by sculptor Jef Lambeaux in 1935 to honor Pieter (1373–1434) and Jan Appelmans (1352–1411) who helped build the cathedral. It was installed near the cathedral’s façade, symbolizing Antwerp’s enduring gratitude to its medieval builders.
