Built in the 1st century AD, the Verona Arena is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world and remains the undisputed symbol of the city. While it originally hosted gladiatorial games for up to 30,000 spectators, it is now globally renowned as a premier opera venue, hosting spectacular open-air performances every summer.
