The Golden Hall (Gyllene salen) is arguably the most spectacular room in Stockholm City Hall, famous for its Byzantine-inspired walls covered in more than 18 million gold and glass mosaic tiles. The northern wall is dominated by a massive figure of the "M?lardrottningen", a symbolic representation of Stockholm. She sits with the city in her lap, flanked by symbols of the East (like the Hagia Sophia) and the West (like the Statue of Liberty), illustrating Stockholm as a meeting point for different cultures.
