Frosty is the mountain that changed my life. It has the only glacier I have seen not from an airplane. It has a jeep trail where I drove a four-wheel drive vehicle for the first time. It gives birth to the creek where I have caught my only salmon.
It was on Frosty that I slept in a bear trail. It was also where I stuck my pickup in the mud and dug it out. On Frosty I looked down upon Baldy where I ate my one and only ptarmigan. From Frosty I looked out to the sea and Amak, reflecting upon my place in the vast universe. All of those things Frosty did for me. But Frosty did one more thing that overshadows all. Frosty instilled in me a great love for mountains that has lasted for the rest of my life. Thank you, old friend.
