Amache, WWII Internment Camp

In 2010, I was driving west on U.S. Route 50 in SE Colorado. Near the town of Granada, I spotted a road sign marking a Japanese American internment camp from World War II. I braked, turned around, and drove just off of the highway to the site where the camp had been. I was alone out there, and had plenty of time to reflect upon what it had been like for these citizens of the United States to have been uprooted from their homes and transported to this land so far from where they had lived. I was particularly touched by those that had served in the U. S. Military during the war. Their patriotism was humbling, to say the least. These are pictures from that afternoon.
