Tunning the MPS-11
Let's see ... how was it? I think we used this scope to monitor the returns and then peak the sensitivity of the receiver by maximizing the strength of the reflected signal from a known object. I do remember we had to stop the rotation of the antenna for awhile in order to perform the check. This test equipment was set up right next to the trailer containing the MPS-11 and under the lift-up side panels.

Night watch in the Radar Shack, Atsugi
This was my first attempt at using the self timer on my new camera .... the Voigtlander Vito BL, one of the first with a built in light meter.
My memory tells me that it was night watch (when there wasn't much activity in the radar shack and I could have done stuff like this without being heckled !!!) ... but then why is there light outside the windows?

Radar/Radio watch May 58, Atsugi
I'm pretty sure this was taken on the same night that I was trying out my new camera, the Voigtlander Vito BL, and it's self timer. (previous photo) There were only two of us on duty in the maintenance shacks .... one radar tech. and one radio tech. Click on the photo and view it at "original" size and you can read the spare tube, lamp, and fuse status board behind us!!!

John Wayen Visit to Corregidor
The story behind this photo was that John Wayne, on his visit to the "staff NCO club", and while horsing around with the Staff, took "his turn in the barrel", A symbolic gesture to establish his membership in the group.
This was taken just as he climbed out of the barrel.
