Night watch in the Radar Shack, Atsugi

This was my first attempt at using the self timer on my new camera .... the Voigtlander Vito BL, one of the first with a built in light meter.
My memory tells me that it was night watch (when there wasn't much activity in the radar shack and I could have done stuff like this without being heckled !!!) ... but then why is there light outside the windows?

I was a wireman in MACS1 and at that time I was the only one to climb to the top of the radio tower it consisted of 4 telephone poles with a platform on top, an expensive radio and coaxial cable, I was assigned to climb to the top and disconnect the cable and lower it to the ground at the beginning of Typhoon Vera, Sept. 1959. If anyone has a photo of that tower I would sure appreciate it.

When I was still there we had 3 or 4 guys in each duty section in radar alone, plus 2 or 3 in radio and about 6 or 7 in Ops. That's not counting the staff NCO's who really didn't do any work. Did they cut back after you guys went on that long trip away from Atsugi?

Keigo, I served with you in MACS-3 and Iwakuni before transferring to MACS-1. Iwas in the radio section. Man, that was a long time ago!

Roger Schattilly was my cousin. He passed away in 2004. He was indeed in The Corps during that time, but I don't believe that's him in the picture. Semper Fi.

I looked up the Macs-1 roster in the recent Lee Harvey Oswald book. I think his name is
Roger Schattilly, Pfc, 6621, but he wasn't part of our Shinjuku group so I could be wrong.

Keigo ... You asked about where my watch partner. I added a photo after this one which shows me and the radio tech. that was on duty that same night. Do you know him and do you remember his name? It's in the back of my brain somewhere but just can't seem to pull it up front !!!

The photo could easily have been taken on a Sunday when we had the 24/7 watches. I also took some photos at that time, but mostly outside.
