Christ Church was the first Episcopal Church in Alexandria. It was completed in 1773. The church was designed in the colonial style. George Washington and Robert E. Lee regularly worshiped here, and many presidents have attended services here on special occasions. President Franklin Roosevelt and Sir Winston Churchill attended the World Day of Prayer for Peace here in 1942.
