Chief Washakie's statue outside the state Capitol building

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Washakie led a band of Shoshones to the council meetings of the Treaty of Fort Laramie (1851). He was considered the head of the Eastern Shoshone Indians by the federal government. His likeness, in one form or another, is seen in several places in the Capitol.
