A snake common to all of SE Asia. They adapt well to most environments, including near human settlements (a ready supply of rodents and water). Easily identified by its alternate black and yellow bands and somewhat triangular body. It is very venomous but also extremely shy and very lethargic in the day time. When bothered they will usually hide their head under their coils and -- at least in Thailand -- bites are practically nonexistent...although, on the other hand, there is no antivenin!
