Sep 10: No, no, no and no.

This isn't how it's done.
1. The door has been cut down far too much.
2. The mortice is fitted in the wrong place...
3. ...badly...
4. ... and those 79p latches are junk anyway. This one was probably 2nd hand when fitted. Look at the lever angle!
4. Victorians didn't have lever handles so a reproduction Victorian lever is just silly.
5. Spraying pot metal with ikky goldy stuff doesn't make it look like brass.

But now the good news. I've spent what seems like days and days researching what should be here. As I type, there's a whole lorry load of solid brass door knobs on its way. They'll go on rim locks as this house should have and did have before someone decided to rip out the real victorian character and replace it with this fake junk.

you've spent days on knobs and knockers - is it my turn for some of you attention?
